A dream in the making: Our story

Welcome to Perentie Brewing Co - a bespoke architecturally-designed brewery specialising in independently brewed lager beers. Taking shape inside Distillery Road Market’s 17,000 m2 precinct in the heart of South East Queensland, Perentie Brewing Co. features a purpose-built brewery, taphouse, bar and tasting room.

A truly local experience

The Brewery’s outdoor beer garden introduces a vibrant alfresco layer to the Distillery Road Market experience, offering a generous seating capacity for up to 300 guests. Designed as a place to slow down and settle in, it invites beer lovers and visitors alike to gather, unwind, and soak up the atmosphere on a balmy afternoon.

Positioned to overlook the sweeping expanse of the Albert River, the space captures a distinctly local character, with uninterrupted views toward the historic Bickford’s Beenleigh Rum Distillery. This connection to place grounds the experience in heritage, while the open-air setting brings a relaxed, social energy that shifts effortlessly from day to evening.

Whether it’s a long lunch in the sun, an afternoon drink with friends, or a casual moment between exploring the Market, the beer garden creates a destination within the destination — a space defined by fresh air, local flavour, and an easy sense of enjoymen

Unmistakably Australian

The 6 million-dollar brewery was born from a passion for sessionable beers with a uniquely Australian flavour, Perentie Brewing Co. is helmed by Kenton Campbell, founder of Zarraffa’s Coffee. Kenton’s vision was to create a beer house honouring the traditional German lager brewing process using authentic German yeast and hops to produce a crisp, clean lager beer with an unmistakably Australian taste.

Perentie Brewing Co. has the capacity to brew an impressive 1 million litres of beer at a time, which should keep the locals refreshed.

The brewing process explained

PERENTIE BREWING CO.

Our Brewing Process

1. Milling Malt is sent through a grist mill, cracking open the husks of the kernels, which helps expose the starches during the mash process.

2. Mashing InThe milled malt (grist) is transferred to the mash tun, where it is combined with hot water, causing the natural enzymes in the malt to break down starches, converting them to sugars, which will later be converted to alcohol. The combination of starch, water and husk is referred to as wort

3. Lautering Wort is transferred to the lauter tun for separation of the wort from spent grain. Efficiently as possible via recirculation, causing loose grain to become filtered out naturally by the grain bed and transferred to the kettle. Remaining grain sugars are further extracted by adding additional hot water and recirculating in a process called sparging.

4. Kettle Boil Wort is then boiled in the kettle to halt enzyme activity, sterilise the wort and also add flavour. Hops are added during the process. Once this process is complete the wort can be transferred to a fermenter.

5. Transfer Transferring to the fermentation tank, the wort is cooled down by passing through a heat exchanger on the way to the fermentation tank. During the process yeast is pitched into the wort and the wort is aerated in order to have something for the yeast to breathe.

6. Fermentation During the fermentation process, the tank is maintained at various stable temperatures and pressures. The yeast will convert sugars to alcohol and CO₂. Once the desired amounts of sugars have been metabolised by the yeast, the tank will be chilled down, causing the yeast to go into suspension.

7. Filtering Once the fermentation step is complete, the beer is ready for filtering. Beer is transferred from the fermentation tank to the bright beer tank via a purpose-built filter that will remove sediments and will clean up the look and crispness of the beer.

8. Bright Beer Tank – Ready to DrinkOnce the beer is in the bright beer tank, it will continue to be chilled at a stable temperature and will be checked and maintained at the desired carbonation level, so that it is ready to be tasted.

Our awards

Perentie Brewing Co. isn’t chasing awards — but we’re proud to be earning them. Every medal reflects our commitment to doing things properly: full-flavoured, full-strength beer brewed without shortcuts. From carefully selected ingredients to a process that prioritises consistency and balance, every batch is made with the same focus — deliver a beer that stands up, every time.

What’s setting Perentie apart is simple. We brew beers that people actually want to drink. Clean, bold, and unapologetically full-bodied, our range is built for real drinkers, not trends. Judges are recognising that — beers that hold their character, pour perfectly, and deliver from the first sip to the last.

But the real measure of success isn’t just trophies. It’s seeing Perentie on tap at great venues, in fridges across Queensland, and in the hands of people who know good beer when they taste it. The awards are just confirmation of what we set out to do from day one — brew beer that earns its place
